Venue

The meeting point for the hike is the car park at Glenridding. This is a pay and display car park, with reasonable rates for the whole day. The route is a circular one, so we will return to the car park after the descent.

Glenridding is a small village at the southern end of Ullswater Lake, close to the foot of Kirkstone Pass. Today Glenridding is predominantly a tourist destination for outdoor enthusiasts including walking and water sports upon the lake. It is reached from the north following the A66 and A592, after leaving the M6 at Penrith.
